Galveston surf report – Monday 8-20-12
We got to Galveston early and caught clean 1-2′ groundswell out of the south. We surfed between 45th and 43rd street groins. Hot and sunny, we stayed until around noon. My wife did OK on the new board despite the hard-breaking swell angle. Around mid-morning we walked down to the 45th street groin and found it breaking like a little right point on some of the sets…
These waves were created by an unnamed tropical low in the Southern gulf and groomed by a rare August front which didn’t cool anything down but did turn the wind offshore.
Caught a couple of small waves on the new board. It(the board) seemed small. Crowded, lots of women surfing.
